Default Water Heater Drain Valve Installation

Hi,

In order to make winterizing easier I replaced the water heater drain plug with a valve.

I used the following brass fittings, as well as some Teflon tape: 1/2 X 1/4 bushing, 1/4 close nipple, and 1/4 ball valve.

I assembled everything on the bench and temporarily removed the valve handle for installation clearance. Installation was not hard, but I had to be careful not to cut my hands on the many sharp metal surfaces on the water heater. I ended up clocking the valve handle upside down and slightly bending it to get enough clearance to operate it.
