Default 1999 Towlite 21TD for under $1000 - It's Been Sold

I'm 80 in September and no longer interested in doing the maintenance. I paid $1800 for the Towlite around 3 years ago and put an additional ~ $1000 in new and upgrades. I took several, successful short trips pulling it with my Nissan Frontier.

Unfortunately, last winter it developed a leak, and the front part of the ceiling and walls need to be redone. They've been partially removed. It's been covered by a commercial covering since I discovered the leak.

I think everything probably works, but I'm not sure if it can be lowered until the bulging wall board is removed. I live near Spartanburg, SC. With this email, I want to ascertain interest from the Hi-Lo community because of the help and support provided by Hi-Lo list members to me in the past.

As an alternative, I might consider paying someone to do the maintenance to get my Hi-Lo back in tip top shape.

I've been waiting for the surging coronavirus statistics here in SC to level off and drop a little before advertising. That appears to have finally happened. I will communicate by email and telephone with anyone who is interested.

Default Trailer Still Available?

Doug,
Is the trailer still available? If it is, perhaps you could give me a call at 785-564-1345 to discuss the amount of damage. I live in Kansas so I would need to be able to dismantle enough of the damaged panels to lower it for towing that far.
I look forward to hearing from you even if it is not still available.

Thanks,
Fred Caldwell

I received two inquiries of interest today about my Hi-Lo Tow Lite and wrote the following to both inquirers-

Hi -----,
Thank you for your interest in my HiLo Towlite. I was going to write a new HiLo forum ad about my TowLite since it seems to raise and lower OK, and I towed it a short distance without problems. I lowered it and pulled it to the side of the yard on a slight hill where I should have had it before, since there was never any sign of a leak until I left it on the level in front of the house over last winter.
I have the $2800 bill of sale and the receipts for most of the $1000 of new equipment it now has-
4 new tires (less than 1000 miles)
new battery
new battery charger/power supply
new water pump
new shroud for Penguin air conditioner
new RV cover
I think it is road worthy and you could could tow it back to Kansas.

It will take me a while to take pictures since I have to tow it back to the one level place in my yard when it's not raining in order to raise it and take photos. I may have a few pictures which I'll search for. I also have the TowLite "Owners Care and Instruction Manual".

I'm also sending this to someone who came and looked at the HiLo, Clyde Cash from North Carolina, but darn if it didn't rain, so we couldn't pull it on my slick grass to where it was level, and in addition his wife wasn't in favor of buying it, but you may want to ask his opinion of the rig since he's been inside it and has owned a similar rig.

My opinion is that it is usable right now (although there is obviously a pinhole or two leak in the front half of the roof), but it is a project to get half the interior walls and ceiling back in good shape like they were before. They have been stripped down to the exterior wall. I just turned 80, and it's too much of a project for me.

I haven't been able to find the title, but would apply for a duplicate if there was interest in it.

Yours truly,
Doug Allen
