I am the owner of a 2007 22' Towlite who has been sitting in the background following threads and learning about many things related to the HiLo. We have had much enjoyment with ours and always get comments. 2 days ago, we picked up our Hilo from an rv dealer after having extensive service and repairs, including a new end cap shipped from Ohio. We no sooner got off the property when we were hit by a truck running a red light. Tow vehicle and hilo are pretty damaged. I am not handy with repairs, nor do I have the space or can afford any further expenses. I would really like to see the Hilo go to someone other than the scrap yard. Anyone interested can PM me. I can try uploading what pictures I have. Or give you the phone and address of the tow yard in Kingston, NY. Insurance still assessing vehicles. :(

Ray, so sorry about the accident; I'm sure it is frustrating after the work and expense you put into it. If the insurance company determines your Hi-Lo is considered "totaled out," they will then "own" the Hi-Lo for scrap and give you a check for its worth or value before the accident. However, if you want the camper, they will give it back to you with a "salvage title" and give you a check for the difference between the worth of the salvage and the value of the camper before the accident. If the expenses of the camper being repaired is greater than the worth or value of the camper before the accident, then the insurance company will "total out" the camper. I think I would wait until the insurance company makes their assessment before trying to sell it, because you would have to provide the buyer with a salvage title with a lower value than if it were simply repaired with insurance money and then sold.

Hilo accident

You're right Dee. Makes sense. We're still in a daze and disheartened from the accident. We can't imagine camping without our Hilo, let alone a tow vehicle that we only had for a year. Thanks again.
