i have a 1996 fun maker and would like to add a drop down bunk. any suggestions where I could purchase it? new or used. I am located in Virginia. thanks
I've been wondering about the weight limits on my overhead/drop down bed? It's supported by two metal brackets on one end and two thin metal cables on the opposite side.
Is that just for kids, skinny-Minnie, average Jack, or oversized Big boys?

I think you also have "legs" on the non-hinged side (near the cables). They should be folded down and dropped into the holes in the trim on the sides of the trailer. The cables are not strong enough by themselves. They're there mostly to help you get the top back up.
Knowing what you said I went out and looked, sure enough there's a pair of fold up legs attached to the sides of the bed. Also a simple "divot" (best work I can come up with) for locating them.
350 pounds means me and the dogs can sleep there if we've a mind to (NOT).
You're welcome - Regarding a limit of 300+ #, take a good look at the construction of the bunk. Very thin plywood and pretty flimsy square metal "joists". I would not want to be under it with 300# above.
I've already consider that, but did want an indication of what it was "rated" at.
Another dumb question, about the bottom bed configuration (it's almost square and uses King sized sheets).
The wifey-poo and I slept in it in a North-South setup, so we could get in and out without disturbing each other. My daughter and her hubby slept in it oriented East-West for a slightly longer stretch.
Now I know there is no right/wrong way, but how are y'all oriented?
We sleep North/South, like you, for much the same reasons. Our bed area is "King sized" too, but we use a pair of lightweight down sleeping bags instead of sheets and blankets for simplicity in making the bed up at night. We can store the bags under one of the dinette benches during the day. There is a removable "lid" to the "box" under the cushion.
