clear water drips from city connection

Water siphons from the clear water holding tank out the city connection, a few drips at a time. This also cycles the 12v pump for a short burst. Over several days (2-3) it will completely empty the clear tank. Putting a threaded hose plug in the city connection stops the leak, and pump cycling, but that is not a real fix. What causes this problem, and how do I repair it?

Sounds like a faulty check valve at the city water connection.... It may have debris trapped that can be cleaned out by pressing on the check valve with your water pump on (water should exit/spray) or it may need replacing.... Good luck! Bob

That sounds like the answer! I will try to clear the valve, and if that fails, replace it. The leak started while on a trip to Yellowstone Park, and was driving me nuts.

The spring may be weakened and you may need to replace the unit itself. You might try placing a plug that fits a hose thread on the unit when you are using from the freshwater tank.

City water leak

Thanks, I am currently using a threaded plug in the city water inlet fitting, and that does prevent water siphoning. I am still going to clean/replace the check valve, which seems to be the culprit.

My Hi Lo is a lot of fun, and I have had a blast making modifications:

Added built-in stereo am/fm and surround sound
Added drop down monitor and digital tv tuner with fm modulator and wireless headphones
Added 300 watt solar charging system (and haven't used a generator since.)
Added "Tredbrite" (polished aluminum diamond plate) lower side panels
Added "Tredbrite" propane tank(s) covers.
Added 30lb propane tanks (2)
Added second battery and replaced existing with 2 trojan deepcycle 80amp
Added quick connect #4 welding cable charging system from towing truck 2nd battery with isolator and breakers at ea. end.
Added an low profile air conditioner, as my unit came without one.
Resealed all putty and roof joints with eterna-bond

Check valve? What check valve?

It makes sense but where is it located? I don't remember seeing anything in the area of my water inlet.

It is located on the backside of the city water inlet.

That's where I'd expect it but I didn't notice anything; is it near invisible or am I again not seeing the obvious?
And while pressing it with pump on, will water spit inside or outside of the camper?

Rains have returned so I'm not out checking these things.

Take the screen out of the city inlet and just inside behind it is the check valve. Push it in a few times with the pump on and hope that there is a particle in there that gets flushed out. The water will shot out at you so be ready.

A'yup is something I learnt (intentional) from the wife.

Ha, mine was dripping too so simple fix, or so I thought.
I bought a new one, installed it and it ALSO drips and does this at about the exact same rate. No, not leaking from the connection above, coming out of the check valve itself.
I will do an EX tonight and if it continues I will look for a sealing cap (which I feel it should have anyhow to keep debris out during travels)

Are you talking about the check valve where the pump and city water lines connect or the check valve that is behind the screen on the hose connection?

So much for keeping this tip in mind ... I just (re)read this posting - from it's beginning. I sure was surprised to see that I'd posted here, twice.

Maybe this time I'll keep it in mind. Or maybe not.
