Default how's the hydraulic system on the hi lo's

Looking into an '82 model. They were asking $2,500 and everything seems to work in it except for when we asked them to lower it, it wouldn't go down. They had just had it lowered the week before and couldn't figure out why it wasn't lowering. They lowered the price $300 to take as is. Couldn't get there repair guy to come take a look any time soon. So do you think it just needs some TLC since it 's been sitting for awhile or maybe a cable came loose? We can hear it trying to do something.

Welcome to the Forum!
It could be a couple of things that wouldn't allow it to go down. The most obvious would be that the safety release was not pulled to allow it to lower, and the battery is not strong enough to make the solenoid open the hydraulic valve on the pump. You said there was a sound, was it a clicking sound up front near the hitch? Did they try to lift the top? If they did you would have heard a loud sound coming from the pump motor.

1- Raise the top as far as it will go with the electric pump.

2- Pull the release cable.

3- Lower the top.

Let us know if that worked.
