Right out of the owners manual, a WDH is recommended. I'm sure everyone will tell you, use a WDH. WHD are also recommended with any trailer over 17'.

Welcome Hilltool,
You will enjoy your trailer, I too have an F150 with a small V8 and it pulls my 24 ft TowLite easily. As everyone has stated the WD hitch is money well spent and safer. Keep us posted on your first outing.
