Default Antenna Removal Question

One big leak source is the antenna on top of the camper. Since I am not going to use it and since satellite dish is what most use, I want to remove it completely. This of course is going to leave a good size hole to repair. What I am thinking is remove it and get a piece of aluminum ( I have a towlite with aluminum roof) to cover the hole and also large enough to go around the entire edge with Butyal (sp) tape. on the inside of the roof (I do not have a ceiling on yet so I can get to everything anyway) get a piece of luan or 2 pieces put together in order that I have something to screw from the top down into to seal against the Butyal (sp) tape. Then seal all screws and edges with the Lexell caulking.

The entire roof will be coated with several coats of the cool seal. Do you think this will work?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Just my opinion, I would patch from the outside in rather than inside out. Easier to keep an eye on the patch on the outside. Good idea to use lauan or plywood on the inside to screw the patch to rather than just aluminum. Use aluminum screws and butyl tape then a couple pieces of eternabond tape then coat with KoolSeal.

Cheers

Thank you Garyk52. That's what I will do then. I will need to order some eternabond tape, do not have any of that.
