Default Awning

Can a electric awning be put on a 26 ft. classic. I have a A & E 8500 manual awning on it now but I been told I can not put one on this trailer. Any help would be welcome

I don't know if you can convert to an electric awning. However,I am on the Airstream forum (lurking.) Many owners curse the electric awnings and wish they had the manual awning. I would think the electric awning costs quite a bit more.

We bought a Jayco trailer that has an electric awning and I wish is we had a manual awning. The power awning is great for putting out and retracting, but that where it ends. The power awnings have a poor reputation for handling wind and rain partly to do with their design and partly to do with their strength. You can't tilt them down or anchor them to the ground.

Cleaning is another problem. I got spoiled by having a Hi-Lo with an awning that I could be cleaned by standing on the ground. The power awnings require a step ladder because of the inability to drop them down like the manual ones.
