Default Bracing a hi-lo for travel while raised

Hi Everyone,
I own a 1975 Hi-lo, I think it is 18'. I know you are not supposed to move them while raised, and I would love to get it to raise and lower, but the hydraulics are shot-the cylinder is really leaking and the lines running from the pump to the cylinder are shot.

Has anyone replaced the cylinder with a jack or some other system of raising/lowering? Or is there a way to brace it to allow you to move it (no faster than 55mph and not on the highway)?

Right now our budget just does not allow a reworking of the hydraulic system.
Thanks,
Jim
