Carrier AirV safety recall
I've seen conflicting information on several different RV sites about the recall on the Carrier AirV air conditioner. This morning I was reading the current issue of "RV View" magazine, and near the back, under the crossword puzzle, the "Carrier Corporation" had an ad with a clear explanation of the recall.
"Carrier is voluntarily recalling its AirV ceiling units with heater assemblies manufactured between May 2007 and July 2009, with the first 5 digits of the serial numbers ranging from 1807Y (18th week of 2007) through 3009Y(30th week of 2009).
The heater assembly in the ceiling unit may be defective, which could potentially create a fire hazard. Carrier will retrofit each unit's heater assembly at no charge. The AirV unit should not be operated until the heater assembly has been retrofitted."
If you have a Carrier AirV air conditioner, you can find the model number label by first disconnecting the power to the A/C unit, then, from inside the camper, remove the four screws that hold the center cover of the A/C unit. After removing the center cover you will be able to see the model number label.
To arrange a retrofit of your Carrier AirV, contact Carrier at 1-877-584-7059, or contact an authorized Carrier Service Center.
