Default Color?

Our 2006 Hi-Lo Classic needs to have the rear plastic bumper?/storage shelf? what ever it's called. It appears to be loosing the clear coat finish, if that's what it is. Does anyone know if this is a gel coat or clear poly coating?
Appreciate any help

In my opinion, if it is a fiberglass part and you can see fibrous material of a different co;or where the finish is coming off, then that would be gelcoat. Gelcoat is the very top finish layer of a fiberglass part. If there is no color change where the finish is coming off then at some point clear coat has been sprayed on the part and that is whats coming off. Gelcoat generally has the color mixed into it when sprayed which is why the color comes off with the gelcoat when it chips or peels.

Thanks for the feed-back. It pops off with a thumb nail and the color under it is lighter but is not white. The cover it's self appears to be plastic I guess the clear coat is just a spray clear coat made for plastic.
