Default Covering Roof Hatches To Keep Sunlight Out

We took the Hi-Lo out this weekend to Galveston, Texas. After fishing late at night into the wee morning hours we like to sleep in.

Here's how we rigged the roof hatch on our 1989 22' Funchaser.

It didn't stay up long. LOL

What can we put up there when we need it?

89Hilo,

You can get some foam at a craft store and cut it a little larger than the screen opening. Push it in the opening and it will stay up due to the "tension fit". They do sell small "silver quilted" covers for the vents. They are the same type as the automotive windshield shades you see in parking lots. I believe this kind of sun shade is attached to the vent by Velcro strips.

We bought some of the silver insulation that is used for auto and RV windows. We cut it a little larger than the vent opening and cut a slit to go around the vent handle.

We push the insulation into the vent opening and around the handle. The handle would hold the cover in place. it works great.
