Default Crack found above front nose-cone area

My husband needs advice on how to fix a crack we found today on our 2007 19' TowLite. The crack is approximately 8 inches in length and located right above the rock shield area at the front of the trailer and runs over the top of the trailer up to the big seam. I hope the pictures can show this. This camper is pristine and we would hate for any water to get in that crack. Does anyone have advice on how to make this repair and what product to use to fix the crack?? We are Wisconsin cheeseheads, anxious to have our first camp-out in our Hi-Lo!!

That's a fairly common problem. No need to panic.

Locate the end of the crack - looks like it will be near the front marker light. At the end of the crack, drill a small hole (I'd do it with a 1/8" drill bit). This will distribute the stress over a larger area and should stop the crack from spreading.

Then, you need to cover/fill the crack (all the way into and including the hole you drilled). I'd highly recommend using Lexel caulk for this purpose. You can find this in ACE Hardware or online. It will work far better than any other caulking compound.

You could also cover the crack with Eternabond tape if you'd like, but it won't look particularly good and is not necessary if you've used Lexel.

Hope this helps!

What Jack said. I'll only add, monitor the crack after repair as sometimes they head off in another direction.
