I'm interested in hearing from folks that double or triple (depending on who you talk to) tow with their Hi-Lo's. I'm interested in what trailer weights and tongue weights are used for the second tow vehicle and whether anything special was done to reinforce the Hi-Lo frame and whether you've had any issues with frame flex or bending on the Hi-Lo.

towing double

I pull two jetski's behind mine I have a 2000 24ft hi lo. I attached a hitch to bumper to mount spare tire on and I just use that reciever. I had mine welded on but you can get some hitches that bolt on over the tube of the hitch. The jetski's and trailer all together weigh over 2000 lbs. I pull with a 2005 Dodge with a 5.7 hemi and it does just fine. It looks like a train going down the road. I didn't do anything special to the bumper as far as reinforcment. I talked to a number of people and they said those bumpers are sturdy enough to handle it. I suppose I have 200 lbs on the tounge.

I'm in MN and its not legal to pull doubles unless you have a fith wheel but play stupid and don't get caught.

If you get caught, not knowing the towing laws won't work in most cases. Check your state an see if it is legal, it's not legal in many states.

A good article on "Double Towing" can be found at: Double Trailer Towing Laws Reed Brothers Automotive Blog. If you are stopped in violation of a state's vehicle code for double towing you may have to leave the Toad behind and retrieve it later as well as pay the fine for braking the law.

Some states call it double while others call it triple. From what I see most states that allow double towing, say, Truck, Fifth wheel, then trailer. lengths & weights very from state to state, so what's legal in one state may be illegal in another, very complicated.

Check your math, since when does 19 states make up the majoity, the last time I checked we had 50 states.

It is dangerous if you do not know what you are doing or you are using poor equipment.

They have some interesting handeling habits that you need to be aware of.

I prefer to tow a set of shorter doubles over a single long trailer.
