Default Front top half overhang area for storage

Using the search feature has turned up nothing. I could be using the wrong search terms. Has anyone used the front "shelf" area of the top half overhang for storage? It seems to me that a toe rail could be installed making it usable space. Our galley is across the front, and the storage space is limited. Just thinking it could be a good place for a coffee maker, toaster oven, spices, etc.

Interesting idea. Our front shelf is at the back of the sleeping area and we leave a box of Kleenex on it, but nothing else. The shelf itself has very little strength (I think it's just a sheet of plastic), so I wouldn't want to put anything heavy on it.

And, if yours is stronger, then you definitely want to add the toe rail to keep items from shifting back against the lower half and possibly interfering with raising the top. I think I'd add more than just a toe rail. I'd want a bar or something that would keep things from tipping toward the bottom half.

Jack, thanks for the response. The fact that everything stays dry and clean including the curtains makes me think the bulb sealer is doing its job. I will definitely look into the strength, and your idea of a bar is a good one.

Our galley is also across the front of the trailer with the shelf and we do use the shelf while camping, but I would not feel comfortable leaving items on the shelf while in transit. Even items in the cabinet shift quite often. Our previous trailer did not have a toilet paper holder so we had a metal holder that slipped over the top of the folding toilet door. I don't know how it happened, but I found the deformed holder on the outside back of the trailer.

I just checked it. It seems pretty flimsy. So, I guess the idea will be abandoned. There doesn't seem to be anything to attach reinforcing.
