Lookin' good there South Bound.

Just a heads-up: It's going to be breezy in the central plains tomorrow afternoon... gusting into the 35 MPH + range. Hang on tight!

We might be staying put for awhile, winter storm alert for tonight into tomorrow for a wintry mix. We will see what the morning brings.

Made it to Wichita, almost 12 hrs on the button. BluTaco has done a great job gobbling down about a gallon every ten miles @ 60mph with a sustained head wind of 20-30mph. Flags are flying straight out, factory smoke horizontal. Guy ahead of me for a short time in a small class A pulling a dingy was rocking and moving around in his lane. The HiLo 99% rock steady.

We had one problem, getting out of the icy house parking, had to get some salt spread out in front of the tire track. That done we easily made it the 1/4 mile to the hard surface. Lots of rain most of the am.

David, thanks for building a great truck!

Nighty nite

David C,
We are coming your direction San Antonio first week in April for 2-3 weeks just for sightseeing, shopping, etc. Any suggestions for a nice campground to stay in while there? You can private message me. I'm going to check out the toyota tours also. Any other suggestions for tours etc. Of course we will be doing Riverwalk and Missions.

I'm staying at the Alamo River RV Resort it's on the south side of town on IH-35... It's quiet and minutes from downtown, but you may want to stay at a place closer to New Braunfels so you can go to the outlet malls in San Marcos - I can't recommend any of them, haven't stayed there, this one is closer to work for me.

And you had better make the tour reservation quickly - they seem to fill up fast.

We made it!
Arrived Monday late, got a campsite at mustang island, been walking on the beach, nice waves, lots of "treasures" to pick up. Weather has been breezy and cool but not as cool as Iowa.

BluTaco averaged for the whole trip a very respectable 12.7 mpg.

Checked on the Toyota factory tour, must be a very popular activity since there are no openings until April.

Having fun!
Down to 42 last night and windy as the Dickins. Were on the north nd of the row so took the brunt of it. Used the optional heater in the ac unit to take the chill off this morning. Made pancakes for breakfast/lunch, now off to town to "gather" at the souvy shop.

Later when it warms ups I plan on taking the bike up and down the beach a couple of time to check out the "scenery". Yesterday afternoon things were looking good as the youngsters came out to play.

Here we are in not so beautiful wichita, ks in the middle of winter storm Q.
Left corpus Christi a day early thinking we would beat the storm but it had different schedule than the weather channel and didn't share. Made it to Paul's Valley, ok last night, goy up with big wet snow flakes. Roads where slushy, then wet then almost at the ks border, first toll booth for sure the weather got serious. At Wichita I was done. Creeped off the tollway, gently slid to a stop at the toll booth and holed up in an americinn less than a 1/4 mile from the booth. Had to be rude and point out to a driver of a fwd car that the nice thing to do would be pull over into the vacant left lane because I was not stopping or obeying the yield sign on the inclined feeder lane. Conservation of motion! He got the message and moved. Forecasting up to 12" so will probably not move tomorrow. Think of us when the news talks about people in Kansas that have been stranded by Q.

Just lift the top, crank up that heater, and crawl in if need be. Just be sure to clear the snow off the roof.

Might as well stay because you know that storm is gonna hit mcGregor and you will have to follow it all the way in and then shovel it when you get home. Go back to Texas for a couple of weeks more....

We were thinking going back would be a good idea.
Weather straightened out so we headed out. Really didn't want to stay put for a couple of days, Kansas DOT has road condition cameras on a web site and things looked good. We stopped at Cameron, mo.

Please let us know when you get home. I've been watching the Weather Channel and the conditions are going down hill this morning. I hope you have a safe and uneventful trip.

Hi,

Got home about 1:30 PM. Backed the camper into the heated shop, raised it up and its dripping. It deserves a good wash.

Amen! Go take it easy for a while. That kind of trip wears people out.
