Default Hitch Lock

Hello, I'm currently looking for a good hitch lock for my 2704T. I was made painfully aware of the shortcomings of the yellow ones that come from Wal-mart when a neighbor took a 3 pound sledge and busted his off with one good whack when he lost his key.

I plan on staying on BLM land quite a bit and would like a little more security than that. One that I ordered on line didn't fit because of the flanged lip on the receiver.

I'm sure this has been discussed before so if you could direct me to that thread or give me some suggestions as to what you use it would be appreciated.

This is what I'm using. I went through several and couldn't find one that worked right. This was the best I could do. Like they say, a lock only keeps an honest person honest....

That'll work Ruben! there are a lot of folks using the GoHawk (the yellow thing) and they like them. I had trouble with mine. After about 6 months of use, the tumbler quit working, so I resorted to a 20 oz hammer. With two hits it was off!. I then went with a recommended Amplock and a Micturning, and have been using them for a couple of years.
We had a trailer full of electric supplies about 2 hrs away and the wrong key, what to do? We hooked the safety chains to the TV (hitch OFF the ball). So if they want that trailer--they'll get it. The pin locks are hardened metal and almost can't be cut, even harder to beat it apart without doing damage to the hitch.
2 more cents.

I have this kind: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._rd_i=15737391 It could probably be picked, but it is pretty resistant to other forms of removal I think.

Jack, if they have the talent to pick a decent lock like yours, then no lock is safe. Unfortunately, that's why we have to have insurance. Haven't heard of too many Hi Los stolen.

I agree, Tree. Most anything we do simply makes it unappealing to opportunists. I've not worried too much about thieves while camping either. But, I can see how a trailer could be vulnerable while in storage in some areas.

Thanks Guys,

I think I'll just stop by a HF and pick up one of those as I've got a few of those round padlocks laying around.

Happy Holidays !!!!
