Default Jason Truck Caps

Has anyone heard of Jason Truck Caps? I am looking for a new cap and I have Leer, ARE, and Jason as my local choices. I presently have a Leer and it has been fine. You opinions please? Thanks!!

I've had 2 AREs. Always been happy with them. I think they're built by Mennonites in Ohio.

Default Pickup Truck cCaps

We've owned an F150,ordered a Leer Fiberglass cap. It was heavy and it made the Truck too tall t go through the Automatic car wash. Seemed Hubby was always having to adjust the Clamps and deal with the foam tape squeezing out. The paint on the rail got scratched until it caused rust spots. We keep our vehicles until we get the last $ at the junkyard. Our current F250 has an even heavier fiberglass cap on it. Takes four guys to lift it off for body shop work. Same scenario as the previous cap. No matter what parts wearout Hubby is always able to repair with sheet metal or new locks. We always leave the cap on the truck. I hate the fact that our Geico ins. won't cover any part of the cap. Also hate that it is just a little bit too tall for Delta Sonic car wash. Found a car wash that is owned by a former HiLo owner that has an automotic bay. Our truck fits in. The only problem is that it is 35 minuted each way from our house. Come on Spring so that we can wash it in our own driveway. Told hubby the next vehicle won't have a cap on it. Seems like gasoline is going up to around $4.00 dollars a gallon. This will put a serious crimp in how many vacations we can take. Rats!!!!

I have had a Jason cap on my truck for the last 4.5 yrs and haven't had a problem. I completely recommend it. Only problem is the battery operated light, they could have used a better system.

Today I ordered a Leer cap like the one I had on my Tacoma. I never had a problem with it, hopefully it will be the same with this one. I has a wired in dome light as standard equipment.

Default Truck cap

Make sure you notify your ins. co. that you have a cap. Hopefullt they will cover it for you. It wood be good to put your request in writting and get proof that you do indeed have coverage. Insist on proof that you are covered. Nothing you buy is cheap.

Thanks Sam, I will have to do that. It is like computers, they are not covered by home owners insurance unless added for extra cost.

Good to see you back! Take care!!

Default Good to be back at home from the hospital

Thanks Rich R. So good to be sleeping in my own bed. Just want to sleep forever. Had something really nice happen to me today. I needed special medication that comes in a prefilled syringe and costs $125.00. I have huge hospital copays and couldn't afford the ins./pharmacy co-pay. The nurse in my Drs. called around to several Cardiology Drs. for samples for me. He is convinced without the RX that I wil have a stroke or heartattack. They were able to locate samples 1/1/2 hrs from my home. The Cardiology Nurse went out of her way and even met us in the Home Deopot parking lot to deliver the Rx. I got her name so I can send her a thank you note. Home Depot our favorite place for all our fix it parts. Hubby finallygot a chance to put in the new auger and scraper in the snow blower. We've had the parts since the summer!!!!

Default Are

I have a cap made by ARE. I've had some small leaks where it sits on truck. When the cap was new one of the windows leaked so I went back to the dealer who ordered a replacement and installed it with no fuss. One feature I did not like was the light they had in the cap. It was three tiny LED bulbs and just would not give off enough light (for this old guy). So I went to the auto parts store and bought and installed a push button light. The color matches the truck well and it's a nice looking cap.
One feature I ordered that I really like is side windows that open. I carry a lot of stuff (and some junik) in the back of the truck when we camp. I can access it from either side of the truck or the back. Glad I paid the extra and got that feature. But would tell you that the dealer tried to talk me out of them, but I can't remember his resaoning.
Hope this helps.

I got the Leer cap on Monday and looks very nice and the paint seems to be a good match. Today I got a BedRug installed, it will be nice to have. Looks comfy enough to sleep on.

We have a Snugtop for our 2006 Tacoma, and have been very happy with it. As far as truck bed carpeting, we get an inexpensive remnant from the carpet store, cut it to size and slip it into the back of the truck. When it gets soiled from use, we either set it on the driveway and shampoo it - or we throw to old one out and purchase a new remnant.
