Just brought our 1986 Funsaver 21' back from the scales... I drove over the scale, got the truck off the scale and weighed in at 3940 lbs.

Question - since I had my weight distribution hitch on, and the trailer hooked up - was some of the weight actually transferred to the car / not accounted for?

FYI - The owner's manual says this should be 3200 lbs and 350 on the hitch. I know I'm about 600 on the hitch. I have the optional air conditioner, spare tire, and awning, I think that adds 278 lbs. Previous owner added pine paneling, and two 40# propane tanks. I guess you add this all up, add the pots and pans, etc - and we're pretty close.

To get a correct weight, weigh your tow vehicle seperately, then weigh the whole combo of trailer and tow vehicle. Subtract the tow vehicle weight from the total to get your trailer weight. You also had tongue weight on the tow vehicle not accounted for. Anything on the holding tanks as well as the batteries are also not included in the dry weight.

So what I did probably produced a low number?

Yes the weight you got would be low.You either have to do it the way Fireballsocal posted or you have to unhook the trailer and weigh it separately.
The weight in the manual is for a bare bones trailer, with no options, like air conditioner, 40lb tanks and etc.
