is there any place online where i can download a manual for my 1985 hilo?...or if anyone has one they would be willing to copy for me?...thanks in advance

Key, have a look at this one: http://www.hilotrailerforum.com/f49/1981-hilo-models-3467/ There's also a manual for the 1990 Hi-Los in that section. Yours is between those two, and I think either one will serve you.
Hi-Los did not change much each year, and the manuals are generic for all models in a given year.
