The "length" that HiLo uses is from the front of the hitch tongue to the back of the rear bumper (does not include the spare tire). Most other trailer makers measure from the front of the "box" (what you live in) to the back of the box. This is a good measurement to see if you can fit into some Forest Service and National Park camp spots. It's usually about 3 ft less than the overall length. You'd measure the upper half length for this.
