Default Questions

This past weekend we were out camping with our western NY Good Sam club.It was raining when we set up and snowing when we broke camp. We had the full use of a heated hall. It was 40d in tthe daytime and 20d at night. First time our water hose froze up slightly. Gave it a band and all was good. The furnice ran just about all the time with a few seconds of rest. Every time the furnice motor would kick in the lights would dim and the radio would cut out for a few seconds. DH thinks the original converter may be going bad. I don't think this should be happening. Any thoughts on this? Everything was good with old faithful. He will call our HiLo dealer and ask about this. Today he winterized the RV and we took out the shampoo ect.that will freeze. Tomorrow we will use some buble wrap on the awning ends and put the sunbrella cover on. Hate hate winter!! On a brighter note I made two reservations for camping in 2016. Our state parks fill up fast.

Have both the converter and battery checked. The converter should have capacity to run the furnace without the lights dimming and the radio cutting out. The battery may be going bad also and is constantly drawing a charge. In cold temperatures that kind of problem can be more possible. Take the battery to Advanced Auto, Sears or a battery shop and have them load test it. Simply testing with a volt meter may not tell you anything.

Default convertertroubles

Rich R,Thanks for the reply. I will tell DH to have the battery checked. DH spoke with our HiLo dealer and he concurs that the converter is bad. The converter is 25yrs. old. We got our moneys worth out of it!! Today we put the sunbrella cover on and took the battery out. Did a little internet research and called Randy at Best converter. He also told us the converter is bad. In the spring we will get the model # and call Randy again. Refreshing to get such good tech support. When it wasn't quite so cold in Sept. the radio was cutting out. DH recently installed a new radio. By the time something wears out the new versions are greately improved.
