Space between top door and wall...
Is there something that is supposed to close up the gap under the top half of the door and the side of the trailer/bottom half of door??
Anyone??

SeaGypsy,
Yes there is suppose to be a piece of wood right underneath the screen door on the bottom of the top door that has a rubber gasket type stuff around the wood piece.

It depends on the year and model of your trailer, as they were different, but I guess the newer designs would work.

Mine is a 1987 Fun Chaser. I probably have to make my own. Just wanted to get an idea of what it is supposed to look like.

Door space
Sea gypsy, I will get over sometime this week to take a picture of my top of interior door. I store the HiLo away from my house. I looked through my restoration pictures and couldn't find a good picture for you.

Door gap
I did get dh hubby to go over the trailer and take some door pictures. I've been in some serious back pain. It is on my list to get my daughter to post them for you later today. Your RV has to be level as this can cause the door to not close properly.

If you can not find the part, you can make your own. find the thickest rubber or foam insulation from home depot and cut it to length. for added strength cover over it with whatever color duct tape that you prefer to make it last and match the interior color, that is how I replaced mine and it works perfect.

Door pictures
DH didn't take the one that Gus posted. If you need to do this repair and I will explain how we did ours. It is a DIY project to replace the material and the weather stripping. I could take measurements and send you the material (lt blue and a piece of weather stripping(round). The material is heavy vinyl left over from a kitchen stool upholstery job we did. The foam is placed between the material and poprivited or screwed to the metal tray object. If the metal is missing you could make one out of wood. We had to do this same repair above the exterior water tank. See these pictures in my photo bucket restoration pictures.Let me know what you need.

That'll work, Laurie! Probably better than a towel or dish cloth that I've been using. Maybe I'll grab a piece of that stuff we were using on the edge of the flaps of our 737s at work.

Copper water pipe foam insulation will also work. It comes in 6' lengths and is split length-wise. It comes in different diameters and you can get it at any hardware or big box store. I have used this before. It also works well to seal the top and bottom halves if your original seal is ripped/torn/missing. Just shove it up from the outside. You have to remove it when you raise or lower the top.
