Tip Out Maintenance?
I would of posted this in the maintenance section but wasn't sure which category it should go in. Also did a search but perhaps my search skills are lacking?
My question is: Is there any required maintenance on the tip out winch?
Thanks,

I don't remember if it's in the owners manual or on the video manual but there is some minor maintenance for the tip out. I believe the big things were lubing the gears and inspecting the strap.

In addition to lubing the gears and inspecting the strap, lube the shaft the large gear turns on with spray lube. Also, inspect the tip-out to body seals and the tip-out cover lock straps for damage.
I did not feel comfortable relying on two straps to hold the tip-out cover closed (think of the damage that could happen if it were to come unlatched in front at highway speed). I ordered two additional latching strap assemblies and installed them above the existing ones.
Incidentally, some of the tip-out winches had a recall some years ago. I believe they had a bad batch of gear shafts. The winch manufacturer will still honor the recall, but you need to provide them the winch part and serial numbers to see if its affected. On mine this is impossible to get without completely removing the winch. So I chose to ignore it.

Thanks Ruben and Raul. I've got the winch access open right now so will take a closer look at the gears and strap. The seals outside look to be in good shape.
Raul,
Regarding the straps you added, were they stock Hi Lo straps or something else. Do you have any photos?
Thanks,

I used as set of stock straps. I attached the straps and the strap catches just above the factory ones. I got them from here: Home - Midget RV & Trailer Service

Screws will lead to dissimilar metal corrosion: aluminum and steel. I recommend aluminum pop rivets, like the factory used.
