Default Trip Notes

Just got back from a 2-1/2 month winter trip out to Arizona and wanted to post a note about a few items before I forgot:
* Our HiLo got many positive comments from campers anywhere we stayed.
* We had a few nights in the lower 20s, but stayed nice and warm with two 1500 watt heaters and the gaps sealed with foam caulking backer tubing.
* I used the rvparksreview.com site to research places to stay and found their info was accurate and useful.
* We have thrown in the towel on the sofa bed, and I'll be replacing it with a platform bed.
Overall, it was a very good trip. The Arizona winter weather was incredible. And our HiLo performed very well.

Glad you had a great trip without any real issues other than the sofa bed. When we had our 21T1999 we also stopped using the sofa (bench) bed.

Glad to hear you had a successful trip. I hate to hear you have thrown in the towel on the sofa/bed. I know the crack is uncomfortable. We had custom foam mattresses made up for about $100.00. Some have used air mattresses. My daughters dinette bed is extremely comfortable with a six inch mattress topper that I purchased at Walmart. She wasn't with us on our fall campout and I slept in her bed. It felt Aplus!! Problems equal solutions. Something wrong when the Adult child is more comfortable than the parents.

Just got back from a meager two week trip to Florida but also had a good experience . I'm not sure what type of sofa bed you all have. Ours is the front unit which slides out and you put down both the seat and back cushions to make a queen bed with a plywood surface Underneath. There is a crack where the rear cushions " hinge" but we just put a standard mattress pad with a cushy top on it and that takes care of the problem as well as where the two cushions butt up against each other. We think it is pretty comfortable.

Since we never use the sofa as a sofa, we thought that replacing it with a platform bed would not only solve the comfort problem and but also give us more accessible storage space underneath. Withe the sofa in the bed position, the compartments underneath are inaccessible .... so not useful to us.
Our previous trailer had a platform bed with gas struts that helped to lift the end of the bed and made the storage space underneath very useful. Should be enough space under there for several plastic storage tubs. And I see where several others on this forum have successfully made this conversion, so I decided to go for it. I'll be asking for advice on the project on a separate thread in the Interior section of the forum.
Anyone need a sofa bed?

Red face sofa bed

In the process of changing from a regular mattress to a queen futon with 6' memory foam (Love that stuff, same as we use in the house). Still folds like a couch and because I installed wheels to help move it away from the front wall when making it a bed, it gives us a LOT of storage with plastic bins. Front wheels lock because it's a bed when towing. Had to move the h2o pump and charger, but what a difference!
Always enjoyed Arizona weather while stationed in Yuma, even those cold nights on the flight line.
