We bring it home tomorrow!!!!!

Hi, Everyone. I just wanted to share the great news.... the brake controller is in, the tow mirrors fit, the pink slip has been signed over and the transfer at DMV has been taken care of. Tomorrow we will be picking up our 1989 22D Funchaser!

We are so excited!!

Thank you to everyone on this forum for all your help and information. If not for you I don't think we'd be buying it.

Great news!! Have a blast! You are going to have some time to get it all outfitted. If you are like my wife, Joyce, you won't be seen for days because you will be in the HiLo building your nest. Put in everything you think you are going to need for camping, then after the first or second trip take out all the stuff you didn't use or need. That keeps the weight down and makes more room for other things you may need and forgot.

Woohoo! It is here!

Got it! Love it! My husband said it towed great. He said he thinks I will feel comfortable driving it too which says a lot because I am a little apprehensive about it. I've never towed anything before but if he says he thinks I will be fine it then I am sure I will be.

Never mind a white Christmas. I've got a Hi-Lo Christmas!

Definitely! I owe you a particularly big thank you. If it wasn't for the fact that we have practically the same tow vehicle I don't think my husband would have believed that our truck was big enough. I really appreciate all of the information and photos that you shared with us. Woohoo for our HiLo pulling Dakotas!

Oh, you are speaking my language! Nesting. That is me for sure. The thing is, I've got two little ones and Christmas right around the corner so my hands are pretty full at the moment. We got it home today and my husband and my little boy washed the outside. After Christmas I will get inside and clean her up and get her all loaded just so. I can hardly wait. I've got my work cut out for me though. Half the curtains are missing so I have to make or buy new window coverings and I am going to pull out the cushions and wash them. In general it just needs a good old fashioned scrub down before I can get to the fun part of loading her up.

I am in coastal So. California so I am ok as far as the weather goes. We get a little rain in January but it doesn't get all that cold. We will probably go on a short little local trip to the beach or something around the end of Jan or beginning of Feb.

Thank you Jack and Bob. Yes, we will create lots of fun memories. Already it was so cute to see my 5 year old spraying it with the power washer and my 16 month old with one of the power washer attachments pretending to spray it too. We haven't even gone anywhere and we're already having a good time with it.

Be careful with the power washer, it can drive water into places where it should not be. It can also remove caulking.

Not to hijack the thread, but power washers will also take paint off exterior rear view mirrors, if there's a slight defect like a scratch that allows the water to get underneath. I used mine to completely remove the paint on my Honda's mirrors before repainting them.

A power washer is an incredible tool, used properly.

We also live in Coastal So. California and we too will camp in Feb and March for some 4 day trips near home. Got ours in May and have only used it twice. You are going to have so much fun Merry Christmas everyone!

We will go locally in the next month or two but we want to go a little further from home (just 3-5 hours or so away) in April when my son has spring break.

The easiest way is to click on the "Manage Attachments" button when you create a post. It will create a "popup" window, that has a dialog for "browsing" on your PC for picture files (".jpg" types). I'm showing one here that I took on our Grey Whale trip in Baja California. You select the file, then click on "upload" and it inserts it at the bottom of your message. Notice there's a maximum size for the file, so you may have to "shrink" it before it can be uploaded.

PS: This was a baby Gray Whale, and its mother brought it right up to our boat so that we could "pet" it (and her).
