Default Well, that didn't take long

Decided to move the Hilo out of the building, so went to drop the top down and heard that crunching sound. Yep, didn't check the cabinets for stuff on top of them and nailed a lamp shade and now have a kind of odd shaped (kind of a flat oval) clamp on light. Guess I am going to have to work on that checklist.

Default Crushed light

I think it is a right of passage to crush something in a HiLo.Is the lamp fixable.? You can get a new shade at Hobby lobby. If you can,t get one I can mail one to you. Forgot hobby lobby is on line. We crunched our outside water door two times/feel your pain.

Default Today's Dumb Move

I just returned the HiLo home from its annual checkup today. After unhooking I drove the truck into the garage. When it was almost to its normal position I heard a crunching noise, so I backed up a little and heard another crunching noise. That is when I happened to look in the rear view mirror and noticed that the window was open on the brand new Lear cap. I jumped out to take a look and saw the window in a vertical position and pushing up on the overhead door. That is when I remembered that I had to get into the bed to get the WDH tool to undo the bars but did not put the window back down. I pulled ahead slightly and was able to get the window back somewhat down to closed position. It did a number on the frame that goes around the window opening. Fortunately the window and its frame didn't appear to be damaged. It looks like I will have to replace the frame because it will be too difficult to unbend.

It pays to pay attention.

From reading on here, it sounds like everyone has to do it at least once . Could have been worse. Lamp shade should straighten out, got things shut down pretty quick, but thanks for the Hobby Lobby idea. And the Clamp on Light now has a shall we say, unique shape, I got it mostly back to round. Sorry to hear about the Lear Cap, that's not good. I hooked a luggage rack on the garage door handle one time when the door wasn't up as far as it would go, and yep, the first thing you think of is to back up. Live and learn. If this is the worst problem we have, we are in good shape. Thanks

Default crunching things

Sorry to hear about your new cap window being crunched. Lately dh gets something out of the cap of the truck and leaves the tailgate down and drives off. I have a pretty impressive crunch in a five gallon metal container of thompsons water seal. We have a new rule to get what ever you want out of the bed of the truck then set it on the ground and close window and tailgate right away. So far so good.

Horror story:

In our 1997, the toilet water valve stopped functioning. So, I partially raise the Hi-Lo and crawl in with a flash light stick to get the make and model off the toilet for parts. I accidentially left the light stick on the sink ledge. I am sure you know what happened next.

I proceeded to lower the Hi-Lo top all the way down. The next week, I discovered the light stick got pushed into the ceiling and resulted in a hole. I am lucky that I didn't pierce the roof.

I quickly found a dual sided ceiling light fixture that matched existing lights in the trailer, and installed it. I am sure we had the most brightly lit bathroom in Hi-Lo history.

Sam is correct...those that have and those that will. I have been fortunate to only crush an empty box I left on the counter. I copied a few of these and keep them in my trailer. Notice there is room for expansion!

Default Crunching things when lowering the HiLo

Our previous owner must have left a pot on the stove and put a serious dent in the range hood. They also must have backed into something as the back bumper looks like someone or something took a bite out of it. Next they must have done some battle with a tree branch as the rubber roof has a patch on it. Preloved preenjoyed!!!! HiLo has many good miles left in it.

My entire rear window and frame must be replaced. The cost will be somewhere between $185 and $215. That should make me remember to close the window in the future.

Default Replacing cap window

Ouch that hurts!! My cousin got a new car and someone backed into the car in the grocery store parking lot and did a hit and run. Never seems to happen when you have an old vehicle.
