where to find vin # on mid 80's hilo

My brother is looking at buying a mid 80's hilo that does not have a vin plate on it and the owner does not have a title either. He was wanting to know if it would be located anywhere else.

Common place to check is stamped on the tongue or inside one of the cabinet doors.

I have a 1985 funchaser and the vin info is a "stick on", on the door side tongue even with the hydraulic pump box.
Mine was covered over with paint when purchased.
