boat trailing

My immediate answer is DEFINITELY NO! But some people think that if you can mount a hitch to it you can pull anything. I have never heard of anyone towing anything behind a HiLo. I have seen it done with fifth wheelers and that is because they have a fifth wheel hitch on the tow vehicle which makes it much more stable than a ball hitch, so I have been told.

Welcome to the Forum!!

Mine came with a rear hitch and a 4 pin connector-so the previous owner had something back there.....but I agree with Rich. I wouldn't want to do it and I certainly wouldn't want to be on the road with anyone doing it.....Think about it---that is 36 ft or more of a "tandem" rig hinged in the middle. Highly unstable.

It relies on the dimension the boat and engine. If you have a 22 feet pontoon boat with a 90 hp, you should have to problem taking a skier or tube.

"Can you pull a boat behind a 22 foot hilow?"

Maybe, just remember, CAN is not the same thing as SHOULD.

As far as CAN goes, you can use this website...
AAA/CAA Digest of Motor Laws
...to check the jurisdictions you're interested in.

I've looked into this for my rig. Oklahoma has no specific restriction on the number of trailers, as long as the entire combination doesn't exceed 65' in length. My pickup, camper, and pontoon boat combination (19' + 22' + 30' = 71') is too long.

SHOULD will depend on driving ability, equipment, weather, traffic, distance, political affiliation, and the skill of your guardian angels.

As far as I can tell, IN THE USA, "Triple Towing" (three vehicles in combination) is specifically illegal in: Alabama, Maine, Maryland, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Washington, and West Virginia.

It's also restricted to fifth-wheel configurations in Arizona, Illinois, and Minnesota.

Everywhere else, it appears to be a simple matter of length.
