Default computer question?

I asked my daughter if she knew how to put red arrows on a picture to indicate an area of concern. She claima she doesn't know how to do this. I would like to post pictures of my HiLo and use Red areas ro show where Lexell caulk should be applied. If I could prevent anyone from having dammaged upper walls that would be great. The areas to be caulked would be on the exterior.

I do it by opening the picture in an editing program. You can draw the arrows on the picture this way.

I use Photoshop Elements, but you can do it in Microsoft Paint, which is a part of Windows.

Sam,

The trick will be, to not destroy the "original" picture especially while you learn!

Using "Paint" that comes with windows, not sure if win8 has it though, if that pertains to you....

Copy the picture from where ever (NOT MOVE) to a folder. this way you can always start over for one thing, plus you have the original. In the folder called my pictures, I have a folder I actually named "edit" where I carefully drag and drop (making sure to "COPY" as I do this, by holding down on at least one the Control Keys (labeled CTRL, located under both shift keys) as I click and drag... while you are there rename the file, so when you get done and move it back, it wont over-write the original.

once you get it in there, open Paint, draw your lines do whatever, then save, if you didnt change the name from example "dsc0002.jpg" that came from the folder, do "save as" instead, which will give you the opportunity to change the file name. Doing this, is just like making a photo copy of something before you modify it, you know. leaving your original to be kept safe.

hope that helps a little.

Default computer question

Aqili Ron,Thanks for the reply. Right now our HiLo is covered up for the winter.Hopefully,I'll will remember to take a picture in the spring. When we did our restoration we found several new spots to caulk on the exterior. My hope is to prevent someone from having water dammage. I printed out the information. Thanks for taking the time post. My daughter got a new laptop for her combined birthday/christmas gift. Maybe she can see what is on windows 8. All of our birthdays are in december. DH is today. The last thing i wanted was a child born in Dec. Oh well! one cake for all of us. The fuss is all done in one day.
