Default I hate winter because_________

It is too cold to go camping and DH and DW are sick with colds/laryngitis and sinusitis. Pass the sanitizer please along with the cough syrup and Kleenex.

So. If I read this correctly.

You want to go camping.........with sick people.

The cold has addled your brain.

Sam, to people from south of the Mason Dixon line you have winter 10 months out of the year. We are "camped" in Okeechobee, Florida and the high will be 76 today. Very reasonable price per month and nobody even knows how to say SNOW. Memphis will get down to 14 this week. Any reason the two of you have to stay in Niagara all winter?

The two seasons up there are more like, "Winter and the 4th of July".

I suspect they're snowed in.

I hate winter because many of the state campgrounds in Western Washington close completely or partially. Often, the areas of the campgrounds that are open for camping are the less desirable, overflow areas.

Maybe some day we will be able to winter in a warmer climate. Our daughter still lives with us and we have to provide transportation to and from work for her. The winds are just bitter with a high of seven tomorrow. Not much snow yet mostly to the south of us. Spending this winter catching up on some serious house work. That way when we do go camping in the spring we can really relax!!

This just may be my final post with tonight's expected cold snap; they're predicting temps dropping to 20 overnight, accompanied by "blustery" winds.

Heck, you're tropical! We got down to 16 degrees here in the mountains in Arizona just after New Years. Also got over a foot of snow.

Well, I don't exactly know what happened, but my laptop cut the post short. I was saying that it is a good thing we packed plenty of sweatshirts and Levi's.

19 degrees here this morning with a high of 37 today. That sounds like a lot of the parts of the country. The problem is that is on the coast of SC. No worry it might be 70 degrees in a few days.

With the exception of Sam, I will trade my weather for anyone that has posted in this thread. We had -1 degree this morning with a wind chill of -20, and 6" of snow on the ground. More snow tonight. Don't live downwind of the Great Lakes. The snow streamer that hit me yesterday was responsible for the big pileup on I80, with 3 dead, 30 injured, and 17 vehicles. That was about 40 miles from here. You may have seen it on the news.

Rich R Thanks for not wanting to trade weather with me. Right now it is 1am and the snow weather machine has cranked up. I'm so glad dear daughter is off from work the next two days. Time to get out the snow blower. Ever night we watch the world news and we see all the severe weather and driving accidents. Sunday it is going to be 30 degrees. Heat wave. It is so bad that the NYS thruway is closed from Rochester to the PA border. Many major roads in the area are closed. At least someone is getting smarter so as not to have motorists stranded in the severe wind chill. The visibility is very poor. Our weather forecaster says the winds will shift to a pacific flow(warmer).

Sam, when I was very young my family lived in Rome, NY as my Dad was stationed at the former Griffiss Air Force base. I remember the winters there in upstate New York but as a child the snow was a lot of fun. Probably not so much as an adult. The summers were wonderful though!

Many places have bad winter weather. The other three seasons are beautiful and make up for the bad winter.

I love winter! All our potholes are filled with snow and ice making the roads smooth and level😜 We northern folks have two words that the southern folks don't know about - wind chill. The southern folks have two words that the northern folks don't know about - heat index. Go figure!?! Hope everyone is safe and warm during this "ice age".

Hi Jim,
Are you and Faye spending the winter in Florida?

Hope the New Year finds you both happy and healthy!
