Lexell caulk and installing RV water heater

Dh went to the RV this morning and was able to remove the Old water heater. Then he came home to eat lunch and get me. RV is parked five minutes away from our home. Then onto ACE hardware to get a fresh tube of Lexell caulk. FYI our ACE not caries a smaller tube of Lexell and a smaller tube of Lexell store brand. Couldn't determine if the store brand was the same as Lexell didn't list the ingredients. Bought a full size tube. Looked at a flaring tool,but it was $@0.00. On to Harbor Freight with a 20% off coupon. Had to buy a kit with some parts DH already had. Then back to the RV. Got e\the new water heater in with my help. Installed the trim ring on the exterior. Then the fun begins. Had to remove the couch to save his back. Tried to use the old gas line and ended up putting a crimp in it. Then went to three hardware store for a fitting and some copper pipe. Two were closed late in the day. Then got back and realized the tubing was wrong as compared to the old. Light as in installing a ref. water line. Came home and found a new piece in his plumbing parts. Back to the RV for gas line install. Fun on your back on a rock driveway. Tired..will test the gas line with soap and water tomorrow and hopefully finish the install. Went to come home and couldn't find his truck keys. I had a complete spare set. Probably somewhere in the RV!! Took some pictures.. So much for a plug in easy install.

That's almost like an old Keystone Cops movie! I've had a few days like that too. They're amusing to look back on (way, way back on!). I wish I could plan everything in advance so I had ALL the tools and parts I need before starting. It'll probably never happen though.

The important thing, of course, is that you WILL finish the job and I have no doubt the system will work perfectly!

Mission accomplished

DH went to the RV before me and finished up the RV water heater install. Says he was frustrated with one propane leak. He pushed on the flared end and then was able to tighten up the fitting. I found the lost set of keys on the rock driveway. Maybe it was better light or a different angle. No problem returning the wrong copper tubing. Was able to test the propane side and will fill with water when we net go camping. Was suprised that the Dometic corporation was in Tenn. Probably assembled with foreign parts? Did you know we had to buy a seperate exterior door. We were able to get one almond color and it looks sharp. Then he realized one 30lb propane tank was empty. Monday we will fill up at the Indian reservation(tax free) and much cheaper. I will also have both tanks recertified as they are way over due. All in all a good day!!

Rv water heater saga continued

Had DH light up the ref. the evening before we were to leave for camping. Went in the RV to pack a few things. Ugh!! smelled propane. Shut the Ref. off. DH said lets go to HD and I will get all new fittings and a roll of copper tubing. Good idea support DD that works at HD. OH,I forgot to soap and water test the fitting that is in the back. This is where the leak is coming from. Later that night DH realized he again bought the wrong ID or OD tubing. Back to HD at 7AM. Laying on the street under the roadside fixing the water heater. Then It starts to rain and I being the good wife stand outside with a big umbrella. Rain just long enough to get the umbrella all wet and then it stopped. Meanwhile I make umpteen trips to the RV with my post surgical knee replacement. Not enough time to cool the ref. down...so plan B. Grab two coolers and ice packs for all the food. Ready to leave the house at 2PM. DD needs picked up from work. Fifteen minutes late. Then a 1&1/2 hr. drive to the campsite. Tired,but safe DH backs the trailer in perfectly the first time Aplus!! A great weekend even though the nasty flies were biting. Thank goodness for Deep Woods insect repellent that works. Those buggers would even try to bit through your socks. DH"if our furnice poops out would you be able to replace it,Yes". Groan more gas line work!! Catch up on Laundry.
