Default 1977 lift & safety catch help

I am looking at a 1977 2577.

There is no safety catch when raised. Can someone provide some detailed pictures showing where this should be and how it operates? I am hoping it can be fabricated and installed without too much trouble if missing or unrepairable.

To get the system to lift the manual release knob had to be set to just the right spot. There is no locking nut, wouldn't this knob turn from vibration when hauling?

Once when raising, the pump kept running after the switch was released. The power cable had to be disconnected. Raise solenoid was recently replaced. Will cheap solenoids stick closed even when new?

Once the seller had adjusted the manual release knob the trailer would raise and lower just fine, other than the absence of the safety latch.

I am really interested in this trailer, but I want to be confident that I can get the safety latch system back in to the equation. I also want to make sure the lift system is ok. It just seems to me that if the manual release has to be in a certain position that a lock nut or jam nut would be present.

Any and all advice is GREATLY appreciated!
