Josh; I got under my HiLo yesterday to try and answer your question. I can only speak for my model but from the pictures I have seen here on the forum of the Hyd ram area on older HiLos I think they are all simular. I cannot see how the FLAT safety could get bent. The ROUND guide bar below the Hyd ram has been known to get bent and had to be replaced. You asked in your last post if you could just pry the bent bar out of the ram. The round guide bar goes thru the end plat on the ram , the flat safety bar does not go thru the ram. My question is, have you misidentified the guide bar for the safety bar. You would approach replacing these two items in different ways, so let us know if you are working with the flat bar or the round bar.

Replacing the flat safety bar. I left my high low up over the winter and we got a lot of snow . I cut it and removed it from the ram. New one I ordered from place out of Ohio. Will be shipped Tuesday. Hope it is easier to install then removing the bent flat safety bar . The bent one was even cut in half . Does anyone know if you have to drop the ram down to replace safety bar?

Jim L,

The safety bars can bend, however, it is not too common of a problem. One of our club members had the flat safety bar bend and come up thru the floor. I believe they have a 2007 HiLo. Don't know how the repair was done as they had the dealer do the repair and fix the hole in the floor.
