Default I've Got It Too!

From reading over these blogs-- I believe that I've got a leaking seal too, my 1984 Funchasers' Hydrolic tube is wet and leaves behind a puddle about 4" in diameter after lifting. On the average- about how much for a dealer to fix? If I check my level after every 4-5 lifts and refill will I be OK for a while?

Default Hydrolic leak

It depends on what is leaking, to figger out what it will cost to repair. If it is a return line leak it should take about 1 labor hour to replace the hose. If it is a high preasure line the labor time will be about the same. If you need to replace the hydrolic ram seals It will take about 2 to 3 hours of labor. If it is the pump It can take from 1 to 3 hour to fix depending on where the pump leaks.

First you need to crawl under the trailer and find the leak.

Sounds like a 2 man job as one is needed under to spot the leak source and one on the raise & lower switch. I think my best bet will be to go back to the dealer who sold it to me and hope for the best.. I'll post later the outcome, thanx!

I removed the hydraulic cylinder on mine and took it to a shop where it was rebuilt with new seals/fittings. The rebuild cost $100 and it took about a day of my time.

My leak was on the ram end of the hydraulic cylinder and was plainly a very, very bad seal (fluid GUSHING from around seal with the cylinder pressurized...large puddle on the driveway).

Well-- hopefully the dealer will get me in and out for $100, that would be sweet to my wallet. I'll post later when they give me an estimate.

I wouldn't count on it, getting the cylinder on and off was a LOT of work.

This repair was covered under warranty? For an '84? Man - that's incredible.
