When the snow is waist deep up here in the Northland, I spend a lot of time reading old threads and figuring out new improvements. The following thread by Marininn got me thinking and actually doing some calculations on my camper.

https://www.hilotrailerforum.com/f24/stuck-torsion-axles-6000/

It seemed to me that my camper sat rather low, and when it is hooked on my non-adjustable distribution hitch, it was certainly not level and was tongue high. My truck isn't lifted and I just chalked it up to differences in trailer and truck.

That was until I found the specs in my owners manual that said my trailer hitch height is 26". Well, I measured mine, and when perfectly level, the trailer hitch is at 21"! (The manual did say the height can vary, but by 4"? )

It really has me thinking that maybe my axles are tired and need replacing/upgrading. Plus, roughly 4" would be amazing for better ground clearance and leveling out the trailer while hooked to the truck.

Am I way off on this, or does it mostly make sense?

I will also attach my spec sheet.

That spec is probably for a dry empty trailer.

How much stuff do you have in the trailer

What I would do is download the manufactures specs on the axles and then you will need to crawl under the trailer to check how the trailing arm is sitting

You can also add spacers between the axle and the frame to raise the trailer

Thanks for the reply! The trailer is currently empty, the only things in in it besides what is screwed down are the cushions. I will crawl back under it and see if I can get any info on the axles and as you said, check out where the trailing arm sets as well. Hopefully I can locate some specs on them.

I most likely will be raising the trailer with spacers, that seems like a good idea.
