Room to get tire off
New to me '88 funlite 17.
So I read a few threads about trying to get a tire off.
There is not enough room between the drum/bolts and the tire for it to drop out. No skirting to remove, just tried the rear curb side one to check for grease.
I got the tire off by letting out some air and had to lower the jack onto the tire a few times to get it back in!
I hope discount tire can get em off cuz I have 5 new tires coming.
I'll try driving the front tire onto blocks of wood to see if the rear tire will drop.

Hi Rabird, here’s what I use when I’m working on the 2000 model that I’ve got:
https://www.amazon.com/Trailer-Aid-l...dp/B07ZPJCHN5/
Drive one wheel up on it at a time, and it works like a charm. Maybe it will help you out too, though it’s still just a bit tight in there, everything goes on and off without too much complaining.

Also in the garage, some stuff to pull it:
1999 3/4 ton 'Burb
1993 Roadmaster wagon (well, it probably won't pull it)

I had the same tire removal problem on my Tow-Lite 2200. I put a 1/2 inch lift kit in and that resolved things for me. I later wondered if the rubber in the torque arm suspensions is getting weak and letting the old trailers squat closer to the ground. Just an idea.

Changing a tire.
Spoke with J&R about this problem. Said to take the skirt off,let some air out. You could also cut the inside of the skirting back a bit. Didn't want to do any cutting. DH couldn't figure out how to change a tire on our new to us 1996 26ft. HiLo. Prayed the 12yr. old tires wouldn't blow out on the way to the garage. What were the engineers thinking.? Even the mechanics struggled a bit but got four new tires with new rims on. The best $50.00 I ever spent. Now I know we can change a tire along the roadside if needed. This was my biggest concern.

Had to pay the mechanic for his labor.
I was so happy he was able to install the new tires with the new mounted rims. We had a 200hundred mile trip to bring our new to us HiLo Home. I qwould have been a nervous wreck if we had to try and bring the HiLo home with 12yr. old tires on it. It sat in a garage for six years because her husband became disabled. He finaly gave the wife permission to sell it. Long story happy ending.

I just found this issue. Ended up using a pry bar under the tire to get it back on. Popped right in there.
But sure am glad I have roadside assistance since I'm a double lung transplant recipient.

I did order as Sam said..Just ain't here yet...Jacked up frame before and after both wheels an one jack between tires...Evenly and carefull....Yes as said tires wont come off with( air in)...so I let (air out )and they squeezed out...Had new tires put on rims at tire shop...Let air out before installing then aired up with my big air compressor...Good to go...
Oh yes Do have a 12v portable air machine with you for on road just in case...and make sure cord is long enough ...before you need it...You can also get a manual hand or foot operated if rather...Back in old day I remember airing up with hand pump on big tractor tires..OUCH!!!!

I have had a problem getting my tire off and worse to get it back on. It took my son and I with the air out to get the tire back on. The tires are Good Year 205 t/75r15. Looks like a design flaw. Has anyone tried standard non radial trailer tires? It appears that the tire width is the major problem.
