Here are pictures showing the repairs I had to make to our 2206 TowLite front awning bracket. The front awning bracket was loose and started to pull apart. I discovered that the framing did not have the strength to support the awning when in use.

The second picture shows the new 14 gauge sheetmetal gusset that I fabricated to support the front awning bracket.

more awning pictures

The first picture in this post shows the metal gusset installed onto the framing using self tapping screws and threaded studs. The threaded studs were used to hold three layers of 3/4 inch plywood.

The lag bolts from the lower awning bracket were screwed into the layers of plywood.

The last picture shows the awning bracked reinstalled and the finished piece of aluminum used to cover over the plywood. The aluminum will be painted and caulked to protect against the weather.

you shure do some purrdy sheet metal work!did you use treated plywood?

Just used some un-treaded high quaility cabinet 3/4 plywood which I had laying around. Was a little worried about out-gassing of the treaded stuff since it was near the sleeping area. I desided on this design so I would not have any exposed bolt heads on the exterior or interior of the trailer.
