I wouldn't worry too much about the detergent you use. I think Simple Green in water or a good automotive detergent such as Meguiars Gold Class would be fine. Some people have used pressure washers too - that's something I'd be careful with. If you have a pressure washer that can deliver a fairly gentle spray, it would be ok.

I use dish soap and haven't had any issues. They make a cleaner for rubber roofs but I think it's pretty high dollar.

Default Advice by HiLo dealer.

This is what we were told to do before DH was going to coat our metal roof. Go to your local hardware store and purchase a product like soilax. It is a cleaner for walls that will not leave a film. You can buy a cleaner for your specific roof type. A spray product will last for many washings. We just use a car wash that has a little wax in it. Bought at Walmart. This is for the body of the trailer. I had a yellow streak and our body shop person told me to use oven cleaner. It removed the yellow. My guess it was from a rusty screw that may be under the roof to body strip.
