newbie awning question
I recently purchased a 2204 T. I love the camper. When I purchased it, the entire 14 ft A&E awning had been taken off. The fabric was torn from a wind storm. I bought new fabric and installed. Now, I can not get the awning to operate properly. It is a manual awning. Every time I manually roll the awning up by hand and switch the up & down spring release, the entire awning rolls out and will not roll back up with doing it by hand. I have tension on both springs, about 8 rotations each.
What am I doing wrong?
Does it matter which side of the installation the up/down release is on?
Any help is much appreciated

Trying to help with awning.
You might try looking at utube videos on awning repair. I haven't had to do any awning repair.

I haven't done any awning repair either, so I have no advice on this. Are there any manuals available for the A&E awning?

Awning repair
I had to order some awning parts on my 1990 HiLo. Carefree was very helpful. Perhaps A&E might have a phone # for tech support. Things are very different with customer support during Covid 19.

I haven't dabbled into awning repair yet but will need to soon. Mine is torn as well. I understand a traditional awning extends out to 8 foot but Hi Los only extend to 6.5 foot. Would this have any bearing on your problem or did you order a 6.5 foot awning? I'm having trouble finding them.

I ordered a standard shade Pro fabric replacement from Amazon. Turn out I had the fabric roller installed incorrectly, I was able to get it working.

Great! Any tips/tricks for installing it properly should any other member have this repair in mind?

Thanks! This is a great video. I'm going to copy and "sticky" it to the Awning sub-forum.

FYI this is the video I used to change my awning fabric. Perfect and only one of me!
Have the right tools at the ready, and all goes well.

Hi we recently replaced our awning. Ordered it from Carefree and seems to be great. Different style from original with separate valance and they knew exactly the right measurements. Good luck!
