When I opened the top of the Dutch door on my 2000 17' HiLo Towlite, pieces of rotten wood droppped out. The I noticed that there was a stain on the upper part of the curtain inside the door window. I suspect there is a leak in the door window. Any advice on dealing with either of these problems - the leaking door window or the wood rot in the bottom of the top door?

The upper door can be easily removed & rebuilt. I did mine several years ago. The bottom part of the door is a piece of 2 x 10, I think (memory failing me now) and the sides are like 2 x 2's for the framework. The center of the door consists of a piece of styrofoam that the glass window sits in. Will have to drill out the new wood for the door lock assembly. I used treated lumber on the project. If I can do it, anybody can do it. It is not a hard thing to do. My loving wife did provide me with adult supervision.:D

Rebuilding the door.

We had to rebuild the top half of the door on our Classic. I would say this a common rotout item. Just st art taking it apart and you will see how it is built. Hopefully you can improve the design to prevent rotout again. I don't remember all the details. Seems to me we had several sessions of gluing and clamping. I used contact paper on the inside and our repair has held up well.
