Default Leaky Connection Under Kitchen Faucet

We have a 1989 22' Hi-Lo Funchaser. Took her out for our first trip down to Galveston Island State Park. Great trip!!!!

When we got back we noticed the wood was wet under the faucet. Do you think it's the cone seal?

It's a tight fit under there. Any tips to get this fixed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It very well could be the cone seal. The nut could be loose or cracked. Getting at it requires some contortions, three elbows and two wrists. You can get a basin wrench to tighten and loosen the nut. Just tighten a small bit to avoid doing damage to the nut and faucet. There is a possibility that the faucet is leaking as well.

on an 89 , I would replace all your cone seals, I did it on mine and it is cheap insurance to future problems. you need 7 of them for the whole trailer. best of luck with your new found treasure

I just replaced my whole faucet. I found it at Ace Hardware for about $25. I see the price has gone up since I bought mine.

I am a retired plumber.
Cone seals are cheap.
If you have problems sealing the cone seal you can add pipe dope, in small amounts, to the pipe at installation. Not to the threads, but to the pipe where it slides into the adjoining pipe/cone washer. Which is where the pipe joint will leak. Make sure everything is lined up well.
When installing, use hand strength to secure. If that isn't enough pressure use a channel lock pliers to increase pressure.
Last resort is to use silicone, since it will seal-but much harder to take apart the next time.
Use plastic piping not metal fittings.
If it is sealed well, don't mess with it.

Default Plumbing advice

Thanks for taking the time to post and sharing your professional advice. This seems to be a very inexpensive repair.

Just always keep in mind to first know the cause of the problem in order to fix it, sometimes all you need is little adjustment or simple repair.

While you are under the sink, check the fittings on the drain p-trap. They have a tendacy to loosen from road vibration and allow water to escape. I speak from experience.
