Default Seal on the black water drain

We noticed when we filled the black water tank to clean it and closed the valve it was leaking. We have a 2002 17 ft RK-- HI LO silver. Any advise would be appreciated.

My black water tank developed a leak at the seam where the drain pipe joins the tank itself. That appears to be a weak point in the system.

I repaired mine many years ago using ABS cement and fiberglass cloth. Basically, I just cleaned off the surface where the leak was happening with a brush and water and then applied a layer of cement to the surface. While the cement was still wet, I pressed a layer of fiberglass cloth into it. After it dried, I repeated the process with another application of cement and a fiberglass patch. Finally, I coated the whole area with a final application of ABS cement. I think it's been at least 8 years since I did this and I've had no more leaks.

Do you know how many gallons a 17ft RK HI LO silver holds? My husband thinks I may have over filled it when I was cleaning it out.

My 17 ft TowLite holds 30 gals in the fresh water tank and another 6 gals in the hot water heater tank. The grey water tank is 30 gals too and I believe the black tank holds 17 gals.

If you overfill the black tank, it will come up into the toilet. If you overfill the grey tank, it backs up into the shower pan. You can't really overfill the fresh water tank because there is a vent right beside the filler port. This is all in my trailer of course, you MAY have some different configuration in yours.

I repaired a seam leak using JB Weld Waterweld Epoxy Putty Stick. Easy to use and worked great.
