Waste Tank Capacity
Hello everyone,
A couple of weeks ago I replaced my grey waste water tank sensors. I had do drill new holes on the tank to install the new ones because of No access to remove the old ones and install the new ones.
Anyway while working underneath I noticed that my grey waste water tank appeared to be a little bit of a smallish size.
So I brought out my inline RV water meter which measures the number of gallons running thru the hose (I use it so I know the number of gallons going into the tanks when Back Flushing, that way I don't overfill them).
I backfilled the grey tank until water just barely started to come up thru the shower drain;...and guess what?...the meter read 22.1 gallons!!
What gives?? I thought these Hilos had a capacity of at least 28-30 gallons for the grey tank.
The brochure for our 8925RD Voyager states a capacity of 46 Gallons. Probably a combined total capacity of both the Black and Grey tanks.
In the brochure there isn't an option when New for such a small tank.
We purchased our Hilo used so I don't know if the tank was replaced at some point, I can't really tell by looking at it from underneath. The cavity where the tank is installed can certainly hold a much bigger tank.
If it came like that from the Hilo Factory or Replaced by previous owners...why such a Woefully Inadequate size tank??
And why didn't Hilo just list tank capacity separately for each tank (Black & Grey tanks)?? I'm giving the Hilo engineers and PR dept. 2 Thumbs down on this! haha.
Very confusing and disheartening!!
