Default 1970 HiLo questions

Hey everyone. My brother and I just bought a 1970 HiLo 17' trailer today. So far it has turned out to be a very decent deal. $400 and a roll of quarters to wash it off. It has been sitting for the last 13-15 years in a barn. This is our first camper and we have plenty of questions. It has been in the up position for 13+ years. and it's not all the way up. it looks as if it lacks a couple of inches being all the way up. We can't get it to come down. My brother seems to think the actuator is locked up on it. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if you may have an answer to fix it. The other question is an electrical one. We plugged in the 110 to the house and got our outlets to work, but can not get the interior lights to work. Is there an inverter somewhere on this thing. I have found the breaker box for the 110, and fuses by the hydrolic pump. but other than that I can't find anything else. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here 's a copy of the owners manual for a year close to yours. Being that it has been up for so long, I would say the cables may be stretched. View the library. There are plenty of things to look for covering the lift system, electrical...If none of that works, keep asking questions. There is a lot on knowledge here on the forum. Good luck.

Default Working great

Thanks for the manual. Learned that the trailer has been sitting in the up position for 15 years for no other reason except the switch is bad. Hooked the pump up to the battery directly to lift it off the safety latch, and presto, it comes down and back up with no problems. A great deal so far for $400. Have to fix a hole in the water tank and now replacing 3 ceiling panels and our wives are redoing the seating and doing some painting.

Just be sure to replace the tires, trailer tires have a max life of about 5 years, regardless of tread depth.
