AC repair

On my 4th RV with roof AC. Had one replaced($$$!). '06 HiLo AC quit this spring in Texas. Contacted 4 RV dealers. Was told no one works on them - just replace it. I got brave and pulled top and electrical box and found some obvious burning on some condensers. A few phone calls found dealer that would order the "starter kit" for $25. Good attention to wire placement (take digit pics??) and putting in new pieces was pretty easy. AC works fine!

I'm ignorant on cooling

so I'd ask what do you mean by burned condensors? I didn't know they could burn.

Or was it some bad nearby wiring that arced to the condensors?

Also, what was in the starter kit?

Thanks, and glad you were able to save some big bucks.

AC

Ok, a hard starter kit normally is a band-aid that's just going to last for a little while. Try to find someone that knows AC. If nothing else look for a local trade school. Happy that it's working at this time and yes you might get an extra year or so out of it, but start saving a few pennies.
Or search on line and try to learn more and try to do things yourself. I'm lucky I have a old school retired friend that helps with my AC stuff that I can't do.
Good Luck

Capacitors do go bad and they can look burned where the wires connect. I have seen them completely blown apart but not in an AC.
