Default Atwood Protechtor 2001 Series Replacement

Anybody have an idea on finding a comparable replacement model? Amazon seems to have a replacement (Atwood 36720) but the mfg date seems to be pretty old so I'm concerned. Everywhere else I look is out-of-stock. Atwood is now Dometic...searching on that name doesn't yield much either.

FWIW, I have a 2403T that has never had the LP gas detector replaced...same thing for smoke detector but finding a replacement for that was easy.

I also decided to replace the LP, CO and smoke detectors.
You are correct, my research says these have a limited lifetime. Once expired they may not work properly. One can't be too safe when sleeping in a confined space.

I replaced the built-in LP detector with a surface mount hard-wired one. The model I used is MTI Industries 30-441-P-WT, but there are others available It is wider than the original and covers 1/3 of the of the original hole. I filled in the rest of the hole with a scrap piece of plywood.
The location on my 2709T is such that being surface mounted is not an issue. It will not get kicked by feet.

I opted for a surface mount unit so I could replace it in the future without dealing with large holes.

Thanks for the idea. I'll start widening my search...perhaps a 1-for-1 replacement is out of the question at this point.

Maybe others will chime in too with their solutions.

Matt, I have a similar model, 2203T. My unit has original detectors also. Never tested them, should think about replacing mine as well. Did you try JandR in Ohio? I’m thinking it’s probably safer to go with newer technology, even if the unit is a different size.
Also, I was able to get control knobs for the original refrigerator freezer unit direct from Dometic.

I replaced the one in my 17T with one that does carbon monoxide and propane detection. I had to open the mount hole up a little bit but it was not too bad.
