Georgia
We are thinking of going down to Atlanta area to see our daughter for Thanksgiving. She and her new husband live in Marietta. Am thinking of taking the trailer, for various reasons, ----and I see there is an RV park just north of Marietta but it is a bit pricey. Anybody familiar with the area and know how much further north I would have to go to find something more reasonable? People were talking about how pretty it is up by the mountains but I am not sure how far away that is as I haven't spent much time in Georgia other than driving through on my way to Florida. There seems to be a series of lakes, or a resevoir, NW of Atlanta. Any advice is appreciated.
Rick

Marietta is North of Atlanta. You might check out campgrounds around Lake Allatoona, which isn't too far away from Marietta. Biggest issue would be whether the campgrounds would be open during Thanksgiving.
Here's a link to some Lake Allatoona campgrounds to research.

Georgia state camp grounds are nice, price some where between 25 to 30, if I remember correctly for full hook up. Just google George state camp grounds or parks. Pretty sure there are some in that area. Son lives just west of Atlanta.

Weather varies from year to year. We've had some with snow flurries, and some with warmer weather in the upper 60's. Nothing too drastic. Best advice is to keep an eye on weather predictions about 10 days out.

Thanks
I monitor Atlantas weather and it is surprising, these days, how close the highs and lows are between there and southern WI. Its easy to think "ATLANTA" , "gonna be warm". But, I realize, it is not southern Florida, either.

But Atlanta can be hot as Hades over Labor Day weekend. 3 years ago, I spent Labor Day weekend in Atlanta for the CFA Football kickoff game. Had to run the generator in the Class B van for 36 straight hours to drive the AC in order to survive.

There are many good camping sites. I went camping on Georgia's Sapelo Isle 4 years ago. It was amazing. That's something you might look into. It was a great trip for us.

My youngest (girl) and hubby
live in Dacula (N.E. ATL) and that's where we spent our last Thanksgiving.
While I was chilly most of the other folk were quite comfortable.

Georgia's state parks are fair and good enough for camping adventure. Let me share that i have experienced of one and that is "Black Rock Mountain State Park". If you are interested in camping there then you must go and visit these parks.

Ok, not Ga.
Ok, not Ga. but it's in this area that we are talking about.
If you go West from Rome, Ga. about 1 hour later you could be in "Cherokee Rock Village". Here is a link to a thread I did about it.

We have a grandchild due in Atlanta in mid september so I suspect I will be investigating the area more thoroughly in the coming months and years.
Thanks for tips.

Another tip for you is Stone Mountain just a little East of Atlanta.
Great place to visit. I've tent camped there at least twice.
