Default Hide A Bed — need air mattress with support for overhang

I am getting my “new for me” HiLo 2511H with tilt out set up. When we fold out the hide a bed, it provides support for only a kid-sized air mattress. If we were to put a full size/queen size air mattress on the folded out couch, about 2.5 feet would not be supported. What are we missing? Is there a source to buy an inflatable air mattress with inflatable overhang support (I saw one on an older YouTube video for a Thomas Payne Air Hide-A-Bed—but can’t find mattresses with that inflatable support). Or, have I just not found the secret for getting the HiLo’s hide a bed additional support arms/legs hidden in the couch mechanism somewhere?

(I would send photos and measurements—but the new trailer (for me) is parked out at my duck club 120 miles to the east of my home—and I won’t get back out there until this next weekend. I can post photos when there on that next visit....)

Thanks for help and ideas.

Jim

(FYI—my Forum name is that of my boat, EXBERT—a Bertram—hence, the name....)

Default Just an idea.

You could stop by a custom mattress maker and they could come inside and take measurements. This would only give you a single size bed. If you need a full size bed perhaps you could get a carpenter to make something up for you.

I am thinking that a coffee table, or a couple of foot stools, that will do double duty as the air mattress foot support, and get a new air mattress on Amazon. Will share photos when I get this project completed. Still thinking it through. Thanks!

I will post photos shortly, but I came up with a simple solution that is working quite well. I bought online a long ottomon just shorter in length than the width of the couch, in the same fake leather fabric (or mighty close to it) as the couch that is in the tilt out. When the ottomon is tucked up next to the couch when it is folded out, it makes the base of a double bed. Then, I purchased a double bed (good quality) air mattress with an internal pump (about 8 or 10 inches thick when inflated--takes only a minute or two to inflate--and voila--I have a bed! Then, when I want to go back just to the couch, I deflate the airmattress, roll it up and put it and the linens, and even two pillows into the ottomon. Best of all, the tilt out when retracted back in for storage itself fits right over the ottomon, so I don't have to drag the ottomon out of the way for storage. It is very sturdy, and frankly is very comfortable serving as an ottomon for the couch and not doing its double duty as the end support of the double bed. NEXT task: to do some custom work on the settee/dinette, to make it more useable as both a bed and dinette. Again, when I get photos when next at the duck club where the trailer is for the season, I'll post the photos. Solution achieved!

Default More about ottoman providing support for small tilt out couch to make a full size bed

I made one modification to the ottoman--I did not use the 3-inch or so tall legs that came with it--and instead found some nylon pads that screwed into the same holes--and the height came out perfect for the bed height. Again, the ottoman provides storage for the airbed and other bedding, and is a super foot rest and/or coffee table when the couch is used for a couch--and it can be positioned to stay in place when the tilt out is back in its retracted travel position.
